Chicora Rotary is committed to serving the world and our local community through giving. Here are some of the projects that we’re dedicated to:
The Rotary Foundation
Since it was founded more than 100 years ago, The Rotary Foundation has spent more than $4 billion on life-changing, sustainable projects. Our club alone has contributed half a million to Foundation projects.
End Polio Now
Rotary International works toward the worldwide eradication of polio and has helped immunize more than 2.5 billion children against polio in 122 countries, reducing the global cases by 99.9 percent. Chicora members participate in various End Polio Now efforts.
Community Grants
The Chicora Club distributes funds that support projects in our community. Local service organizations may apply for these grant monies in order to fund specific projects to fulfill their needs.
Waves of the Future
Each spring, Chicora Rotary hosts a talent showcase where Horry County youth get to perform at The Carolina Opry. Proceeds are given to the Horry County Schools Fine Arts Department to help keep music and art education alive.
Firefighter of the Year
Our annual City of Myrtle Beach Firefighter of the Year Award Ceremony recognizes the hard work and dedication of those who bravely serve our community. Four finalist are recognized.
Happy Feet
Giving local kids a new pair of shoes is great, but seeing the smiles on their faces is priceless. Each year, our club partners with JC Penny and provides news shoes for growing youth in our community.
Dictionaries For Schools
Dictionary for schools program provides dictionaries for elementary schools in rural areas of our local communities.
Additional Community Service Projects:
Throughout the year, club members participate in a variety of service projects to help our community.
