Applications that are received are reviewed by our Board of Directors.  Below are a few basic guidelines that are used when considering applications:

  1. Is the request for a pressing need in the community that matches with the mission of Rotary International and our District?
  2. The maximum grant offered during a Rotary year is $1,000.
  3. Chicora Rotary does not offer grants to a single organization for consecutive years.  If you received a grant in the past 12 months you are not eligible during the current year.

Waves2

The Chicora Rotary Club’s signature fundraising event is Waves of the Future, showcasing Fine Arts talents of children grades K-12th.  This event will raise money for Horry County Schools and the many community service projects Chicora Rotary funds each year.   In connection with this event, we are holding a contest for artwork which will be printed on all the t-shirts and programs sold at the event.  The winner will also be recognized by local media and receive prizes.  At the event we will have artwork on display and encourage the artists to be present and watch the show!  We also plan that the overall winner would attend the event and autograph t-shirts and programs.

Prizes include: $100 prize for the top logo selected in each of our three categories (Elementary, Middle School, High School).  A committee made up of Chicora Rotary members will make the final determination.

The artwork should ideally be designed for 8 ½ x 11 dimensions.  Vertical Logos are preferred.  The t-shirts will be printed in three (3) colors, so a design of three colors would be best.  The name of the event, Waves of the Future, and the Rotary Wheel should be incorporated into the design.  This year the special theme is the mission of Rotary International; the Eradication of Polio worldwide.

Please complete the form below, cut on the line, and tape securely to  the back of your artwork so it can be identified.  The deadline for submission is Feb. 1, 2018.  Please send entries via Inter Office mail to Scott Scrivner.

Good Luck!

Our Service Project is scheduled for Saturday, 10/25/14.

The homeowner, Roberta Garris is a single female living on social security disability.  She recently had hip replacement surgery.  She lives alone and during one of the storms this year, a tree limb fell on her house but her homeowner insurance company denied her claim indicating that the roof lacked proper maintenance – had holes and no damage resulted from the tree limb.

Ms. Garris has applied for emergency housing rehab assistance.  Her insurance company notified her that her insurance policy will be cancelled if she does not get her roof repaired by November 13th.  If the Rotary will assist with the removal of the tree limbs, the Bradford Pear tree, trim some other trees and remove the unfinished deck, etc. – this would decrease the cost and time to repair her roof.   Ms. Garris has some other repairs that need to be accomplished but we are addressing the roof replacement first.

This project is located in the Ramsey Acres neighborhood and the address is 1090 Oak Drive.

The Chicora Rotary Club of Myrtle Beach presents its sixth annual “Waves of the Future – Rotary’s Celebration of Horry County Schools.” The event is planned to be held at The Carolina Opry Theater on Sunday, 4/15, 2018 at 4pm.

We will again showcase theatrical talents of children grades K – 12. Our previous Waves events packed the house and featured more than 600 students from 16 different schools and all proceeds went to non-profit causes including at least $10,000 each year for Horry Schools Fine Arts Programs. Our “fun-raiser” will again provide funds for the Fine Arts programs in the schools and for the many local and international projects which Rotary supports, including Polio eradication, the Dictionary Program, and Project Happy Feet.

In addition to supporting numerous local charities, Chicora Rotary Club uses a portion of the funds raised to support our International Project in Peru. In the past 5 years, with the help of matching grants from our District, we have funded water and sanitation projects. Below are links Mobdro Download to photos and videos:
